1. To discuss the social, economic, cultural and spatial multi-dimensional relations on coastal areas
2. To discuss the coastal areas through landscape management, planning and design
3. To introduce the new paradigms for the critical reading of coastal landscapes
Course Description
Coastal areas and landscape architecture. Characteristics, types and components of coastal areas. Coastal areas a component of natural and cultural landscape. Basins and watercourses. Island concept. National and international policies on coastal landscapes. GIS based studies. Crisis landscapes and climate change. Visual impact assesment. Environmental impact assessment. Integrated coastal zone management in the context of landscape architecture.
