Course Objectives
1. To provide a comprehensive overview of human factors issues in the maritime field
2.Discussing a socio-technical system that includes human, group, technology, work practice, organization and work environment elements.
3. Understanding the dimensions of the human factor
4. Aspects of cognitive psychology, senses and perception, information processing and decision making, and human behavior.
To teach them as applied to human factor issues in maritime.
Course Description
History and development of human factors at sea, Socio-technical system model, Human voice, Perception, Cognition
behavior, Individual and task interaction factors, Work-rest cycles, Mental workload, Physical workload,
Stress, Communication, Social role and power, Four dimensions of verbal communication, Operational analysis, Teamwork, Environment
interaction factors, interaction of individual factors and technological factors,
culture in maritime working conditions, importance of human-machine interaction in maritime safety,
Research methods of human factor in maritime, human factor based problems in maritime.
