Dersin Amaçları 1- To give a deep understanding of the governing equations of viscous flows and behavior of viscous fluids
2- To introduce exact solutions of Navier-Stokes equations, notion of similarity methods, low and high Reynolds number flows and to familiarize analytical methods used for different problems.
3- To gain ability of implement these methods to various flow types including boundary layers
Dersin Tanımı Examples of viscous flows, boundary conditions, fundamental equations of compressible viscous flows, Navier-Stokes equations, energy equation, vorticity and stream function formulations, non-inertial coordinate systems, control volume formulations, solution of Newtonian fluid problems, Couette flow, Poisseuille flow, unsteady pipe flows, unsteady flows with moving boundaries, asymptotic suction flows, similarity solutions, creeping flow, laminar and turbulent boundary layers and equations, similarity solutions of boundary layer equations, shear flows, approximate integral methods, thermal boundary layers.
Dersin Çıktıları 1- Understand the governing equations of viscous fluid, boundary conditions and dimensionless parameters in advanced level.
2- Solve steady and unsteady pressure or/and wall driven flows and to apply these solutions to diverse engineering problems
3- Understand the exact solutions of two and three dimensional flow examples
4- Apply numerical methods to solve differential equations obtained as a result of exact solutions.
5- Understand the governing forces and fundamental principles of the low Reynolds number flows, learn and apply solution methods.
6- Familiarize techniques used for boundary layer calculations, understand and use theoretical solutions.
