Dersin Amaçları

1- To teach the root finding methods, interpolation, extrapolation, spline fitting techniques.
2- To teach the finite difference methods, implicit and explicit methods and time stepping techniques
3- To teach the spectral methods in periodic domains based on FFTs,
4- To teach the spectral methods in non-periodic domains based on Chebyshev polynomials,
5- To teach various aspects of numerical linear algebra, including PCA and SVD
6- To teach miscellaneous topics in numerical analysis and research directions,

Dersin Tanımı

Introduction. Root Finding: Newton-Raphson Method. Interpolation, Extrapolation, Spline Fitting. Difference Methods: Explicit and Implicit Methods. Spectral Methods: Fourier Series, FFT, Chebyshev
Polynomials. Numerical Linear Algebra: Cholesky Decomposition, LU Decomposition, Gauss-Seidel iteration, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD), QR Factorization, Gram-Schmidt Process, Least Squares Problems, Miscellaneous.
