DEP 616E - Kuvvetli Yer Hareketi

Dersin Amaçları

1. Depremin kırılma sürecini, sismik dalga yayılımını ve bu süreçlerin kaydedilen yer hareketleriyle ilişkisini anlamaya yönelik teorik ve uygulamalı bilgi kazandırmak.
2. Kuvvetli yer hareketlerinin ölçülmesi, kaydedilen verilerin işlenmesi ve yorumlanması konusunda temel bilgi ve becerileri kazandırmak.
3. Deprem yer hareketi kayıtlarının ölçeklendirilmesi ve hedef spektrumlarla eşleştirilmesi konusunda öğrencilerin uygulama becerilerini geliştirmek.
4. Kuvvetli yer hareketlerinin simülasyonu ve modellenmesine ilişkin temel teorik ve uygulamalı altyapıyı kazandırmak.

Dersin Tanımı

Physics of Earthquakes, Elasticity and Seismic Waves, Seismic Instruments, Strong Motion Networks, Time and Frequency Domain Characteristics of Strong Motion Records, Processing and Interpretation, Scaling of Ground Motion Records, Principles of Strong Motion Simulation Techniques.M.Sc./Ph.D. students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge, skill and competency in the following subjects;
a. Seismic waves and wave propagation
b. Theory of seismic instruments, concepts, and limitations
c. Processing and interpretation of strong ground motion records using Matlab and Python
d. Analyze time and frequency domain characteristics of seismic records using Matlab and Python
e. Selection and scaling of strong ground motion records
