MIM 322E Conservation of Historic Buildings and Sites is an introductory undergraduate course designed for architecture students, focusing on the fundamental concepts of the conservation of historic buildings and sites. The course covers a broad range of topics related to architectural conservation, including conservation theory from the nineteenth century onward; historic building survey methods; inspection and documentation techniques; conservation criteria and values; intervention principles and techniques; and national conservation legislation and its administrative framework in Turkey. Contemporary approaches and practices are examined through a variety of case studies encompassing traditional dwellings, monuments, and urban and vernacular environments from Turkey and abroad.
