Dersin Amaçları • To define compressibility and its effects on fundamental flow equations
• To teach students shock and expansion waves and related calculation methods
• To teach students linearization of fundamental equations and the conditions under which they apply
• To furnish the students with the ability to calculate the flowfield and aerodynamic forces in compressible flow
Dersin Tanımı Two dimensional subsonic compressible steady and isentropic flows. Normal shocks. Oblique shocks. Expansion waves. Compressible flow through nozzles, diffusers, and wind tunnels. Linear theory for subsonic and supersonic flows. Supersonic airfoils. Elements of hypersonic flow.
Dersin Çıktıları On completing this course students should be able to
1. apply basic thermodynamic relations to flow problems. (a3,e2,h1,j1,k1)
2. obtain flow properties by using the governing equations of one dimensional inviscid flow. (a3,d1,e3,f1,j1,k2)
3. know normal shocks and calculate flow properties across them. (a3,b1,e3,j1,k2)
4. know phenomena related to the deflection of supersonic flow and calculate flow properties. (a3,b1,e3,j1,k2)
5. calculate compressible internal flows. (a3,b1,e3,f1,h1,i1,j1,k2)
6. know basic concepts of supersonic wind tunnels and perform initial sizing. (a3,b2,c1,d1,e3,f1,h1,i1,j2,k2)
7. calculate subsonic and supersonic compressible flow properties around airfoils. (a3,b1,e3,f1,i1,j2,k2)
8. know hypersonic flow properties and calculate flow properties for basic configurations. (a3,b1,c2,e3,f1,i1,j2,k2)
