Course Objectives To provide the engineering students with
1. Fundamentals of rotorcraft flight,
2. Basic rotorcraft blade aerodynamics
3. Basic rotorcraft blade dynamics
4. Rotorcraft performance
5. Rotorcraft conceptual design
Course Description History of rotorcrafts. Vertical Take off / Landing aircrafts. Basics of rotorcraft flight. Elements of rotorcrafts. Basic movements. Basic rotor aerodynamics. Rigid blade motions. Basic performance of rotorcrafts. Conceptual design of rotorcrafts.
Course Outcomes Student, who passed the course satisfactorily can:
1. know the basic parts of rotorcrafts
2. know the principles of control elements and their effects on manouvers
3. apply different aerodynamic models on rotor systems
4. know the effect of different parameters on rotorcraft performance
5. make vibration analysis of rotor blades, calculate frequencies and draw mode shapes
6. know the conceptual design of rotorcrafts.
