Course Objectives To learn the basic concepts of communication with electromagnetic waves between spacecraft and ground stations
Course Description Frequency analysis of signals. Generation and propagation of the electromagnetic waves. Analog/digital communication, Amplitude and angle modulation, antennas, ground stations, orbits used for communication. Error correction coding. Link budget, multiple access methods. Reliability/security of spacecraft communication. Advanced communication systems.
Course Outcomes 1. To know the basics of signal spectrum
2. To know the basic modulation techniques
3. To know the creation and propagation of the electrniomagnetic waves
4. To know the basic antenna systems calculate the link budget of the communication between the spacecraft and ground station
6. To know the channel coding techniques
7. Toknow the interaction between the communication subsystem and other satellite subsystems
