3. To teach finite volume solution techniques of convection-diffusion problems
Course Description
Numerical solution of ordinary differential equations, initial value problems, Taylor series and Runge-Kutta methods, boundary value problems, shooting, finite difference method. Numerical solution of partial differential equations: Direct and iterative methods for elliptic equations. Explicit and implicit methods for parabolic equations. Stability and convergence. Numerical solution of hyperbolic equations. Numerical solution of convection-diffusion problems by finite volume method.
