Course Objectives

1. Basic understanding of earth’s climate system, physical properties of the atmosphere, and the oceans.
2. Understanding how Earth’s climate operates and natural processes influencing climate, practicing problem-solving skills, and application of scientific concepts
3. Discussion of current climate issues

Course Description

Climate systems, global energy balance, radiation balance, surface energy balance, mean zonal circulation, hydrological cycle, ocean general circulation, climate sensitivity, earth system models, regional climate models and introduction to RegCM, climate change projections.
