Course Objectives Basics of Structural analysis. Stress, strain concepts. 2D Elasticity. Torsion of solid structures. Prandtl stress function. Membrane analogy. Energy methods: Virtual work. Potential energy. Statically indeterminate systems. Reciprocal theorems. Bending of plates. Buckling.
Course Description 1.To give knowledge about basic and two dimensional elasticity
2.Torsinal analysis of solid sections
3.To be able to use energy methods
4. To introduce plate bending.
Course Outcomes After completion of this course, the students should be able to:

1. To understand basic elasticity
2. To deeply understand formullas used in engineering mechanics
3. To analyse torsional analysis of solid sections of different type
4. To solve statically indeterminate systems by using enery methods
5. To use energy methods effectively
6. To calculate the displacement of plate under different loading and boundary conditions
7. To solve buckling problems under different boundary conditions
