Course Objectives 1. To learn the complex distribution of stresses on the sections under combined loadings.
2. To gain an ability to apply the solution techniques for statically undetermined systems.
3. To learn the criterions which are used in the stress analysis
4. To introduce the concept of the structural stability and advanced topics
Course Description Transverse Shear, Combined Loadings, Stress and Strain Transformation, Design of Beams and Shafts, Failure Theories, Deflections of Beams and Shafts, Buckling, Energy Methods.
Course Outcomes Students who successfully pass this course have the knowledge and ability for the structural design on the following topics:
1. Shear stress and shear center on the beams(a3,c2,e3,f1,h1,i1,j1,k1)*
2. Combine loading and superposition of stresses (a3,c2,e3,f1,h1,i1,j1,k1)
3. Stress and stress transformations (a3, e3,f1,h1,i1,j1,k1)
4. Stress analysis and use of yield-failure theories (a3,c2,e3,f1,h1,i1,j1,k1)
5. Beam and shaft design (a3,c3,e3,f1,h1,i1,j1,k1)
6. To obtain the elastic curves of beams (a3,c1,e3,f1,h1,i1,j1,k1)
7. Solution methods for statically undetermined systems (a3,c1,e3,f1,h1,i1,j1,k1)
8. Elastic stability-buckling (a3,c1,e3,f1,h1,i1,j1,k1)
