Course Objectives
1. By enhancing their awareness in art, design and philosophy, the course enables learners to use their knowledge creatively in their own area of profession
2. Help learners to relate the knowledge of their own areas with other areas and then provide evaluation of these findings in a holistic way
3. Accumulation of qualified information and knowledge in the areas of art, design and philosophy
4. Providing background for creative applications in their own area of expertise
Course Description
Accompanied by philosophy of art and science, the course investigates the creative essence of bio-engineering on a design level in order to provide the necessary knowledge, skills and competence. Within that context, historical relationship of art and engineering, visual investigation of natural objects and artifacts in art as well as their conceptual status in philosophy, analysis of nature as an inspirational source of design in engineering, relation of theory and practice in art and design, interdisciplinary nature of engineering and finally multi-dimensionality and wholeness as the basic concepts for design will be investigated thoroughly.
Course Outcomes
Students will be able to,
1. Use knowledge and skills of art and philosophy in their own area of profession
2. Differentiate and identify the basic concepts in art, philosophy and science
3. Recall and identify the ground breaking personalities and their ideas within the cross section of art, science and philosophy. (Platon, Vitruvius, Leonardo Da Vinci, Dürer, El Cezeri, Sinan, Kant, Russel, Wittgenstein, Heidegger, İlhan Koman, Turgut Cansever)
4. Identify and develop the basic visual note taking, analysis and expression methods and techniques
