Course Objectives Gain a good knowledge on pharmaceutical manufacturing and smart delivery sysyems
2. Provide experiences in problem solving approaches such as defining problems and selecting the best approach to obtain the best results in terms of technical or economical criterions.
3. Understand the basic optimization concept and to gain the awareness of optimization.
4. Gain practical experience on optimization problems in the chemical engineering industry and quality control and characterization methods.
Course Description Introduction to Pharmacology, Classification of Pharmaceuticals, Raw materials of pharmaceuticals, Research and Development Process in Pharmacology, Manufacturing Processes, Sterile Product Manufacturing, Dosage Forms, Tablet Production, COntrolled drug delivery systemsi Targeted drug delivery systems, Role of Nanotechnology, Quality Control, Current Good Manufacturing Applications, Quality and Standardization in Pharmaceutical Industry.
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course are expected to be able to:
1. understand common practice in pharmaceutical industry development, plant layout and production planning
2. have a knowledge on the principles and practices of aseptic process technology, non-sterile manufacturing technology and packaging technology
3. have a better understanding of principles and implementation of quality by design and process analytical technology in pharmaceutical manufacturing
4. understand the new product development process
5. understand the necessary information to transfer technology from R&D to actual manufacturing
6. have basic knowledge on the cGMP aspects in pharmaceutical industry
