Course Objectives

To train students to investigate the relations between energy, work and the changes in systems
properties
2. To provide students with knowledge on the laws of thermodynamics and their applications to
different bioprocesses
3. To train students to calculate the heat requirements for physical and biological processes
4. To train students to make thermodynamic analysis of bioreactors

Course Description

This course is designed to cover the fundamentals of thermodynamics and their applications to bioengineering problems. Topics covered include: Basic concepts and definitions of thermodynamics, The laws of thermodynamics, Heat effects of bioprocesses, Thermodynamic analysis of bioreactors,
