Course Objectives
1.Learn the basics of genetics and the mechanisms of genetic variations
2.Learn the different modes of inheritance and the genetic basics of diseases
3. Learn the main quantitative and qualitative estimates used genetic analyses
Course Description
Basic concepts of Mendelian genetics; chromosom theory in heredity; structure and function of genes; gene expression and its regulation; mutations and chromosomal defects; genetics and biotechnology
Course Outcomes
I. To understand the main concepts of genetics
II. To be able to differentiate different modes of inheritance patterns,
III. To be able identify human chromosomes and learn their abnormalites
IV. To be able understand the basics of genetic mutations and polymorphisms,
V. Understand the basis of genetic counselling and its methods
VI. Learn biotechnological aspects of genetics
