Course Objectives
To provide basic knowledge on cells such as bacteria, fungi, protozoa, algae and viruses related to medical, environmental, industrial and food. Demonstrate an ability to work in teams. Demonstrate an awareness of engineering ethical responsibilty. Develop skills in seeking in information from various sources. Provide students a recognition of the need to engage in life-long learning.
Course Description
Characteristics of microorganisms; cell biology; nutrition, metabolism and energy; microbial growth and growth requirements; bacterial kinetics; diversity of microorganisms; virüses; isolation and identification methods;microbial genetic and the regulation of gene expression will be covered.
Course Outcomes
Demonstrate a basic knowledge of cells and cell structures and factors affecting microbial growth. Recognize interrelations among problems. Cooperate with others. Seek information from various sources.
