Course Objectives
1.To provide students with basic knowledge on the types, structures and characterization of bio-catalysts and biocatalytic applications.
2. To provide students with practice on literature search in the library and on the Internet on topics related to bio-catalysyts and their characterization.
3. To develop students’ oral and written communication skills.
4. To provide experience in working independently.
Course Description
Introductıon to biocatalysts. Primary structure of proteins. Enzyme catalysis. Chemical mechanism of enzyme catalysis. Characterization of enzymes
Course Outcomes
1. Apply their basic engineering knowledge to the production and purification of enzymes.
2. Demonstrate knowledge on the structures, purification, isolation, rapid analysis techniques and impact mechanisms of bio-catalysts and enzyme catalyzed reactions.
3. Search the library and the Internet to follow the latest developments in biocatalysts.
4. Prepare written reports.
5. Give oral presentations.
6. Work individually.
