Course Objectives
The purpose of the high voltage technique course,
1. To teach the concept and calculation of the static electric field,
2. To teach the types and theories of electric discharge phenomena,
3. To teach overvoltage sources and overvoltage protection, and
4. To teach the generation, measurement and applications of high voltages.
Course Description
What is high voltage? Why is it needed? Static electric field and basic electrode systems; electrical discharge phenomena in gases, liquids, solids, vacuum; protection against overvoltages and overvoltages; generation of high voltages; measurement of high voltages and high voltage applications.
Course Outcomes
1. To calculate and control the electrical stress caused by the presence of high voltage,
2. To learn the importance of shaping, sizing and positioning of electrodes and insulators.
3. To know the formation and differences of electrical discharge types,
4. To learn the concept of insulation coordination as well as the relationship between insulation, electrical stress and protection,
