Course Objectives
1. Gaining knowledge on trajectory properties of nonlinear systems.
2. Learning basic control engineering concepts like limit cycle, equilibrium points and their stability.
3. Learning to use important control engineering methods like Lyapunov stability analysis.
4. Gaining experience to work in groups and prepare comprehensive reports.
Course Description
Nonlinear state models, phase portraits, describing functions, equilibrium points and limit cycle, existence of periodic orbits, existence and uniqueness theorem, stability of equilibrium points, introduction to Lyapunov stability theory, the invariance principle, linearization, Chataev’s theorem, comparison functions, stabilization, feedback linearization.
