Course Description The importance and application areas of optical laser communication systems. Hisktorical survery. The communication channel. Optical fiber and propagation characterictics. Optical sources. Optical receivers. Signal/noise ratio and BER. System aspects. Fiber optic multiplexing, WDM and DWDM reon techniques.
