1) To introduce fiber optic transmission, optic channel and properties
2) To learn the optic transmitter and receiver theories and practice

Course Description
The importance and application areas of optical laser communication systems. Hisktorical survery. The communication channel. Optical fiber and propagation characterictics. Optical sources. Optical receivers. Signal/noise ratio and BER. System aspects. Fiber optic multiplexing, WDM and DWDM reon techniques.
