Course Objectives
1.To introduce basic knowledge of linear electric circuits and systems
2.To give the concept of modeling
3.To show how to define the network equations in different domains.
4.To show how basic knowledge in linear algebra and differential equations are
applied to engineering area.
Course Description
State equations of higher-order dynamic circuits. State transition matrix and
properties. Zero-state, zero-input and total responses. Sinusoidal steady state.
Finding the state equations of dynamic networks and systems in jw- domain. Phasors.
Complex Power. Three-phase systems. Finding the state equations of dynamic
networks and systems in s-domain. Impedance and admittance. Stability and Routh
Criteria. Network functions and parameters. Block and signal flow diagrams. Bode
diagrams.
Course Outcomes
Students who pass the course will be able to:
1. Finding the state transition matrix from state equations of the circuits
2. Analyze a circuit in jw-domain.
3. Find the power and energy consumption of the circuits in jw-domain.
4. Apply circuit analysis techniques to 3 phase systems.
5. Match impedance for maximum power transfer.
6. Analyze a circuit in s-domain.
7. Investigate a circuit or a system by using a block or signal flow diagram.
8. Investigate the phasor and amplitude response of the circuits by using bode
diagrams.
