Course Objectives
Kinetic Gas Theory: Basic principles.
Ionization Types: Ionization by collision, photoionization, thermal ionization, electron release.
Deionization processes: Recombination, deionization by attachment, deionization by diffusion.
Breakdown theory under uniform electric fields (Townsend discharge theory), Paschen’s Law.
Streamer discharge theory, corona discharges, ligtning disharges, arc discharges, etc.
Breakdown in solid dielectrics.
Breakdown in liquid dielectrics.
