Course Objectives 1. To provide the non-electrical engineering students with a foundation for understanding the
basic principles of electrical and electronic systems.
2. To underline mutual concepts of electrical engineering and non-electrical engineering
disciplines.
3. To give theoretical and practical electrical knowledge.
Course Description Fundamentals of electrical engineering: electric circuits, circuit components and laws, analytic
solution techniques, alternative current circuits, multi-phase systems, transient phenomena.
Electronic circuits: diodes, transistors, operational amplifiers. Electrical machines: transformers,
induction machines, synchronous machines, direct current machines.
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course are expected to have,
I. Electrical knowledge, which is necessary for an engineer.
II. Fundamental knowledge of electrical system security
III. Fundamental knowledge of electrical machinery.
IV. Up to date information about electronics.
V. Capability to solve electrical problems in non-electrical engineering disciplines.
