Principles of integrated circuit (IC) sensors. Resistive signal conditioning circuits: Voltage dividers, linearization circuits. Balance and unbalance circuits realized with Wheatstone bridges; load cells. Sensitivity in bridges. Industrial instrumentation circuits: Instrumentation amplifiers, related definitions (CMRR, SMRR, offset, slip, noise) and effects; chopper amplifiers; Voltage/Current converters. Shielding and grounding methods. Signal conditioning circuits for sensors operating on the principle of change of reactance; AC-bridges; carrier amplifiers; load amplifiers. Analog/Digital and Digital/Analog converters: Operating principles, characteristics. Data acquisition structures. Remote measurement methods. Experiments: Temperature, force, displacement, angle, flow measurement, microcontroller based measurement systems.
