Course Description
Systems of linear equations; solutions, linear dependence and independence, matrix algebra inner and outer products, determinants, vector spaces, null spaces, rank, eigenvalues and eigenvectors the characteritic equation, orthogonality, symmetric matrices and quadtratic forms, dynamic systems.
Course Outcomes
Students completing this course will be able to :
1. Solve systems of linear equations. Perform arithmetic operations on vectors and matrices as well as equations thereof. Compute the inverse and determinant of a matrix.
2. Learn the importance of the concepts of linear combination, linear independence, vector space, basis and dimension and be able to use them.
3. Evaluate the eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenvectors of a matrix, and know their function in the solution of dynamical systems.
4. Find an orthonormal basis and calculate an approximate solution to matrix equations.

The evaluatıon will consist of the following items:
Midterm exam: 1 of, total 50%
Final exam: 1 of, total 50%
To qualify for taking the final exam, the average of midterm and homework grades must be at least 20%
Any cheating will be punished by subtracting the full weight contrıbutıon of that grade from the final grade of the class.
