Course Objectives Objectives of the course are listed below:
Learning of the sources and effects of overvoltages
Introducing internal (switching) overvoltages, their sources, characteristics and behaviors,
Introducing external overvoltages, their sources, characteristics and behaviors,
Learning the principles, means of protection against overvoltages, the selection and use of suitable protection devices,
Learning the concept of insulation coordination.

Course Outcomes Learning outcomes of the course are listed below:
To know overvoltages, their sources and effects
To know the sources, characteristics, behaviors of internal overvoltages, and solving their problems,
To know the sources, characteristics, behaviors of external overvoltages, and solving their problems,
To know the principles and devices of protection against overvoltages,
To be able to choose the appropriate devices for protection against overvoltages and use them in the appropriate places,
To know the concept of insulation coordination and to be able to apply it.
