Course Objectives To train students to analyze continuous linear control systems
To train students to use control engineering tools like root-locus, frequency response methods and state space representatıons .
To provide experience in using software packages to solve control problems.
To provide practice for developing critical thinking skills and solving open ended problems.
Course Description Introduction to feedback control systems. Blok diagrams. Modelling dynamic systems. Criteria for transient response analysis and steady state errors. Root-Locus plots. Root-Locus based controller design. Frequency domain criteria. Nyquist diagram and Nyquist stability criterion. Bode diagrams. Closed-loop frequency response. Analysis and design of state space control systems. Introduction to digital control systems.
Course Outcomes Understand the concepts of feedback control systems.
Learning modeling and transfer function of systems.
Know the time domain system responses.
Draw the root locus of continuous linear control systems.
PID controller structures and their design.
Use the frequency domain criteria.
Draw and interpret Nyquist and Bode diagrams and use Stability Criterion.
Analyze and design state space control systems.
Know digital control systems.
