Course Objectives
1 - To have knowledge about POWER generation
2 - Understanding of the operating principles of POWER plant
3 - To calculate cost of electrical energy for POWER plants,
4 - To learn synchronous machines and their operation,control and protection
5 - To have knowledge about Load dispatch in POWER plants
Course Description
To introduce electric energy generation, design and construction concepts, chracteristics of various types of plants and synchronous machine, exciting configuration kinds. Thermal and hydro plants. Electric economy, load-frequency control, and voltage control, Circuit breakers, relays and different protection configurations. Measurement tools in power systems
Course Outcomes
Students will have:
1- a knowledge of synchronous machines and their operation
2- an understanding of the operating principles of the power plants
3 - To calculate cost of electrical energy
4 - a knowledge of load frequency control
5 - ,a knowledge of power plant control and protection
