Course Objectives
1. To broaden students’ general knowledge about how to manage organizational resources,
2. To help students understand the fundamental functions of management, i.e. planning, organizing, leading, and controlling,
3. To improve students’ analytical skills related to managerial decision making,
4. To improve students’ awareness about the contemporary challenges managers face.
Course Description
Management, managerial concepts, key management processes of planning, organizing, leading, coordinating, controlling and correcting with an emphasis to the human element in technology-driven production and service organizations.
Course Outcomes
Students who pass the course will be able to:
i. Explain the basic principles of management: planning, organizing, controlling, and directing
ii. Recognise how various environmental factors affect business and management practices
iii. Critique management theories and explain their implications for the practice of management
iv. Understand ethical dilemmas faced by managers
