Course Objectives I. Guide the students in using different mathematical modeling techniques with OR,
II. Teach students different methods that are used for numerical decision making,
III. Make students gain skills in finding optimal solutions to problems.
Course Description This course aims to teach the production and management concepts, quantitative decision making, modeling philosophy and model building, linear programming and Simplex algorithm, Big M and Two Phase Simplex Methods, Duality and economic analysis, transportation models and solving methods, and the use of Lindo and Excel Solver programs.
Course Outcomes I. Use different mathematical modeling techniques,
II. Solve a linear programming problem and comprehend the analysis of results,
III. Understand the sensitivity of a solution to the changes in parameters of a linear model,
IV. Use some computer software to model, solve and analyze a linear model,
V. Identify whether a solution is optimal or not,
VI. Solve and analyze transportation and assignment problems with some dedicated methods,
VII. Succeed Modeling and solving Project Management Problems.
