Course Objectives The objective of this course is
1. To provide required methods, knowledge and persectives to management engineering students in order to make a decision on how much and when production and stock are required
2. To ground basis for planning and controlling the production systems effectively that minimizes the cost of production and maximizes productivity.
Course Description This course which is the following course of Fundamentals of Production is designed to introduce the general concepts and problem areas related to Production Planning and Control. The firms should generate effective solutions for production planning problems in order to continue to exist in the market. To generate analytical solution and to evolve strategies are the main subjects of this course which has topics such as forecasting, inventory management, aggregate planning, master production scheduling, MRP, ERP, scheduling, capacity planning etc.
Course Outcomes Students who will successfully complete this course can
I. Make demand forecasting analyses that keep to the right and effective planning in production and service sectors
II. Know about the hierarchy of mid and short term plans belonging to long term plans and compute on when and how much should be produced in the structure.
III. Know about dependent and independent demand structures and design inventory control systems related to these structures
IV. Make an effective capacity management related to demand forecasting and order systems in a production system
V. Have planning ability related to job sequence and job schedule
VI. Know about current issues such as Lean Production and Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) and its computer applications.
