ECN 309E - Money, Banking&Financial Mark.

Course Objectives

The objective of this course is to give students a thorough understanding of the role of money and banks in the broader economy and of the unique role of banks in the financial system. Students will also learn the relevance of the Central Banks in the economy and the fundamentals of Monetary Theory. In the final section of the course the causes of and policy responses to the recent economic and financial crisis will be discussed.

Course Description

This course is designed to introduce the concepts of money, monetary policy, deliver the issues of banking, financial markets, build the skills of measuring interest rates and understand the risk and term structure of interest rates and demonstrate how to analyze a bank balance sheet, money supply and money demand.
