Course Objectives
The aim of this course is to provide Industrial Engineering students with a general overview of the functioning of the global and local financial system and to establish the roles that industrial engineers can play in this functioning and the basic engineering skills required for these roles. For example, production planning techniques can be applied in physical production enterprises, while in the financial sector, process mining or route planning techniques can be used in workflows. Or, AI solutions and analytical methods have applications in the financial system.
Course Description
The course includes the mechanism of international financial system and actors in the system as banks, central banks, financial markets, insurance firms, other actors and Turkey cases in banking sector and some functions that are standard in banking sector like payment systems, foreign trade and treasury, financial institutions communication and some specific products in sector like leasing, credit mechanisms, simple bank balance sheet and other tables and etc. Also students may gain some process mining, optimization, analytic methods and AI solutions used in banking system
