Course Objectives I. To educate engineers who see the necessity of adopting developing planning techniques and will adopt these techniques.
II. To give an ability of planning to enable economic production.
III. To educate engineers who are aware of the importance of stock control and can do conscious applications.
Course Description Production Concept, Production Systems, Production Management and Production Planning Concept and Hierarchy, Demand Forecasting, Stock Control Systems, Aggregate Production Planning, Master Production Scheduling, Materials Requirements Planning, Capacity Planning, Assembly Line Balancing, Production Scheduling.
Course Outcomes I. Classify production systems and recognize the production system applied in the establishment they will work for
II. Forecast future demands by taking previous demands into consideration
III. Do aggregate production planning in terms of product groups and products
IV. Determine economic production and economic order quantity
V. Determine order quantity in make-to-order production firms
VI. Plan a firm’s capacity
VII. Model and balance an assembly line
VIII. Do planning, programming and scheduling to produce orders and/or products in shortest time and/or with minimum cost
