Course Objectives
1. To teach about ship and types.
2. To teach about ship construction and shipbuilding
3. To teach about stability.
4. To teach survey of cargo gear, principles and problems of stowage and carriage.
5. To teach general, bulk, refrigerated, dangerous cargo, grain, special cargos and containers, and the role of the ship's officer related to various types of vessels and cargo operations.
Course Description
General description of Ships. Classification of Ship types. Geometrical properties of ships.
Basic ship's construction; structural components, materials and methods of shipbuilding.
Static Stability, the principles of transverse and longitudinal stability, damaged stability. Specific topics include a survey of cargo gear, principles and problems of stowage and carriage of general, bulk, refrigerated, dangerous cargo, grain, special cargos and containers, and the role of the ship's officer related to various types of vessels and cargo operations.
