Course Objectives
1. To teach weather forecasting and interpreting synoptic maps,
2. To teach tropical cyclones,
3. To teach ocean waves and current systems,
4. To teach sea ice formation and types.
Course Description
Synoptic maps and weather systems. Tropical cyclones. Ocean current system. Waves. Tides and current
systems. Sea ice and effects on navigation.
Course Outcomes
Students who pass the course will be able to:
I. Be able to understand synoptic maps and to forecast weather,
II. Learn tropical cyclones and sea waves,
III. Learn ocean and sea current systems,
IV. Learn sea ice,
V. Learn usage of routing charts and pilot cards by knowledge of meteorology and oceanography.
