Course Objectives
1. To teach the fluid behaviors.
2. To teach the theories and applications of fluids.
Course Description
Basic concepts. Hydrostatics. Pressure at a point. Pressure distribution in liquids and gases. Calculation of pressure forces. Kinematics of fluids. Basic equations of one dimensional flow (continuity, energy and impuls-momentum equations). Ideal fluids. Real fluids. Boundary layer. Dimensional analyses and similarity laws.
Course Outcomes
Students who pass the course will be able to:
I. Know basic consents of fluid, principles of hydrostatics and pressure distribution and learn solving the problems.
II. Learn the Bernoulli’s Theorem and the continuity and can apply in practice.
III. Learn momentum theorem and pressure losses, viscous resistance and can apply in practice.
IV. Learn boundary layer, dimensional analyses and similarity laws and can apply in practice
