Course Objectives 1. To teachrequired actions in case of emergency position.
2. To teach crises management on board in case of emergency position.
Course Description Actions to protect crew and passengers on board in case of emergencies. Ship towage in case of emergencies. Search and rescue operation for ship and crew, and initial actions to limit (assessment) damage, and salvage of the ship in case of fire, explosion, collision or grounding.Response to marine pollution in accordance with MARPOL. Preparation of contingency plans to response emergencies. Maintenance of life saving, firefighting, other safety and security systems and equipment.
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to;
I. Learn precautions for the protection and safety of person and passenger in case of emergency.
II. Learn actions to be taken in imminent and after grounding and refloating procedures grounding vessel.
III. Learn actionsand damage control procedures to be taken in ships collision.
IV. Learn actions in case of steering gear failure.
V. Learn about search and rescue in case of emergency.
VI. Learn oil spill response procedures.
VII. Learn how to response emergencies on board.
