Course Objectives 1. To introduce international maritime related organizations.
2. To teach international maritime conventions.
3. To teach about requirements of international rules and their applications.
Course Description Terminology of international conventions. International Maritime Organization (IMO) organs.
Methods to prepare conventions. International Maritime Conventions and Codes. Analyze of;
SOLAS 74 and ISM Code, MARPOL 73/78, STCW 78, Load Line, COLREG 72, FAL 65, LC
72, CLC 69/92, FUND/protocols, LLMC 76/96, SUA 88, SALVAGE 89, BUNKERS 2001,
BWM 2004, HNS 96. Introduction of ILO and MLC 2006.
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to;
I. Learn about constitution of international organizations, and structure of UN and IMO.
II. Learn about national legislation for implementing international conventions
III. Understand IMO Conventions related to Maritime Safety, Marine Pollution, Liability and Compensation.
IV. Learn other maritime related organizations and conventions.
V. Learn certificates required to be carried on board by International Conventions.
