IML 242 - Introduction to Machine Design

Course Objectives

1) To teach the analysis methods used in safe design of machine elements
2) To reinforce the command of knowledge by applications/tutorials

Course Description

This course introduces the methods to analyse the main and compound loading conditions and how to use the safety factor and material properties in these calculations used in analysis. After examining all the methods and loading conditions, applications on the simple beam elements are introduced via content-rich examples.
