MAK 4029E - Advanced Fluid Mechanics
Course Objectives
To introduce;
- basic concepts of fluid flows and their classifications,
- methods of analyses of fluid flows,
- description of well-established and known approaches and theories and their scope.
Course Description
Basic Definitions and Constitutive relation. Conservation of mass, momentum and energy (Integral & Differential Forms). Flow kinematics (Pathlines, streamlines, streaklines, circulation and vorticity lines). Kelvin’s theorem. Bernouille equation, Crocco’s theorem. Vorticity equation. Some exact solutions of Incompressible viscous flows: Couette, Poiseuille, Stokes, Stagnation point flows, Creeping (Low-Re) flows, Boundary-layer approximation, Jets and Wake flows.
