Course Objectives
To teach students about power cycles, cooling cycles, gas mixtures, and the fundamentals of chemical reactions; demonstrate the thermal design fundamentals of engineering systems; develop students' analytical, interpretive, and application skills in this field.
Course Description
Gas power cycles. Steam power cycles. Cogeneration. Refrigeration cycles. Gas mixtures. Air-steam mixtures and air conditioning. Chemical reactions. Chemical and phase equilibrium.
Course Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will acquire the following skills:
1. Knowledge of power cycles and thermal analysis (a)
2. Ability to perform thermal design of engineering systems (c)
3. Ability to analyze, apply, and communicate in this field (e)
4. Ability to apply the laws of thermodynamics in relevant fields (e)
