Course Objectives
1 - To provide students with theory and hands on laboratory experience
2 - To teach students to design and analyze experiments for engineering systems
3 - To provide students with practical illustration of concepts taught in the core classes
Course Description
Experimental methods in mechanical engineering. Experiment design principles. Realizing pre-designed experiments in groups concerning system dynamics and controls, heat transfer and thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, strength of materials, and machine dynamics, analyzing and presenting the results in written report. Realizing two additional experiments that are related with the division of students, Realizing an experiment design project, written and oral presentation of projects.
Course Outcomes
1 - Investigate how to compare the mathematical model of a system with its experimental performance.
2 - Create a proposal for an experimental system.
3 - Design and execute experiments
4 - To be able to write technical report to present the results and conclusions of an experimental project in a legible, informative written format.
5 - Present a proposal for a project
6 - Present the results of a project on a poster format and give oral presentation.
