Course Objectives

The main objectives of this course is to improve student’s knowledge on earhquakes, evaluation
of active tectonic and seismic hazard of a region.

Course Description

This course covers:
- Global seismicity and seismotectonics
- Crustal deformation during the earthquake cycle
- Tectonic geodesy
- Focal mechanism, size and intensity of earthquakes
- Plotting maps and earthquake data using GMT (Generic Mapping Tools)
- Morphotectonics
- Paleoseismology
- Neotectonics of Turkey
