Course Objectives 1. To have general knowledge in the physics of the earth, interior of the earth and earthquake geophysics,
2. To have general knowledge in applied geophysical methods (technical, data acquisition and processing),
3. To have general knowledge by interpretation of the data,
Course Description Earth physics and interior of the earth; gravity, magnetic, electric, electromagnetic, seismic, radiometric, bathymetry, side scan sonar methods etc.; earthquake geophysics; geomagnetism and paleomagnetism; geophysical methods used in groundwater, coal, oil-natural gas, mining, industry and radioactive mineral explorations; environmental and archaeological geophysics; selected topics...
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to have knowledge about:
1. Physics of the earth, interior of the earth and earthquake geophysics,
2. Gravity and magnetic methods,
3. Electric and electromagnetic methods (resistivity, SP, IP, VLF, GPR),
4. Seismic reflection, refraction and other acoustic systems (SBP, Chirp, ROV, AUV, UUV etc.),
5. The evaluation and interpretation of the data,
6. Relation to active tectonics and different geological problems.
