Course Objectives 1. To provide the usage of industrial raw materials correctly and relevantly in Turkey,
2. To develop the base and acknowledgement about final product of industrial raw materials in Turkey,
3. To enhance the contribution to economy of industrial raw materials.
Course Description Description, importance, reserves, production, import and export of industrial raw materials. Industrial
minerals produced in Turkey. Feldspar, kaolin, ceramic clays, wollastonite, talc, zircon (Ceramic
industry), magnesite, chromite, refractory clay, mica, disten, dolomite, bauxite, graphite (Refractory
industry), quartz, Trona, nepheline Syenite, lithium (Glass industry), sepiolite, zeolites, diatomite,
bentonite, calcite (Filler and Filtration industry), limestone, pumice, perlite, tras, sand (Construction and
Cement industry), boron minerals, salt, sodium sulphate, fluorite, barite, celestite, iron and titanium oxide
minerals (Chemical, Paint and Detergent industry), phosphate rock, apatite, sulfur (Fertilizer industry),
diamond, corundum, grind stone, grona, spinel, semi precious minerals and rare earth minerals
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to:
I. Recognition various ceramic raw materials in mineral processing,
II. Recognition various refractory raw materials in mineral processing,
III. Recognition various glass, filler, construction and cement raw materials in mineral processing,
IV. Recognition various chemical, paint, fertilizer and detergent raw materials in mineral processing,
V. Recognition various semi precious minerals and rare earth minerals in mineral processing..
