MAD 327 - Haulage and Drainage in Mines
Course Objectives
1.To provide and underline the importance of underground mine transport.
2.To give an ability to organize economical mineral transport
3.To provide knowledge of transport systems and related elements.
4. To project underground mineral transport system.
5. To project pumping systems to pump the mine water.
Course Description
Haulage through ore pass drifts: chutes and spiral conveyors. Chain conveyors: estimations of force, power, chain elongation and pretension. Slushers. Rope haulage, monorails, main and tail rope haulage. Load-haul-dump, shuttle cars and truck transportation. Rail haulage: cars, locomotives, capacity and power estimations. Belt conveyers: estimations of pulling-tension forces, and power. Mine water sources-prevention-collection-drainage-disposal. Pump types, centrifugal pumps. Pumping systems. Head loss and power estimations in water drainage lines. Hydraulic (slurry) transportation.
