Course Objectives Main subjects are weathering and erosion, transportation, sedimentation and lithification. Under these headings following topics are covered: sediment classification, sedimentary structures and depositional environments, including glacier, desert, lake, river, alluvial fan, delta, coast, lagoon, tidal flat, shelf, continental slope and ocean.
Course Description The course provides an integrated overview of the sciences of sedimentology and stratigraphy. To provide a comprehensive answer to the questions?What is the origin of a sedimentary rock? and "How can we reconstruct ancient sedimentary environments from the rock record"?. Main subjects are weathering and erosion, transportation, sedimentation and lithification.
